#12 Conclusion

From the first post until the eleventh post, we can include the Disney film are wise, funny and visually stunning that is perfect for the family. Or maybe.... they are sappy and sentimental and brainwashing kids with all American values? Everyone has their own opinion regarding of the all movies that released by the Walt Disney Company, beginning with 'Snow White' in 1937 and hitting new heights with last year's box office bonanza 'Frozen'. What cannot be denied is how loved these films are in every corner of the globe. But which Disney movies deserve a place on your DVD shelf and which are best forgotten?  

There's lot of new things we can learn from Disney movies like Cinderella taught us that a dream that we wish will come true. Snow White taught us that hard work is easier to finish with a smile and songs. The Little Mermaid taught us to get out of our comfort zones and learn new things. Beauty and The Beast that we need to look past appearances in order to truly love someone and Frozen taught us that love can thaw a frozen heart. 

Starting from Snow White, we can see that princess was imagines as a weak person. They need prince to help, protect and escape them from any obstacles. This shown to children that every girl needs a man who can protect her. But, this common view been changed on Brave. Merida is imagined as a very tough girl that can face her problems by her own self. Frozen had also changed the common view from the kids where Elsa and Anna work together to find the solutions for Elsa's problems. They don't even need a prince to settle it.  

Other than that, in Disney movies show the stupidest person in the house are the parents while the smartest are the children. In the movies every main character is either an orphan or their parents die in movie. So, their message is clear. Kids are best when the parents are dead or gone and the logical conclusion is not to listen to your parents. Also the movies show that something completely unbelievable with every child owning a phone, computer, TV and of course the latest mall clothes while you will NEVER see anyone with pimples, in a wheelchair, or ugly unless they are the nerd who is recognized by wearing sunglasses and ugly clothes. 

All in all, like what had repeated in every post, every good has it's own bad, every pros has cons, every nice has bad. All of these are getting different perspective from each different person. It's depends on person on how they see it and on how they control it. The most important is, children need parents guidance when watching all Disney Movies and the most important is parents need to pay attention on what their children watch and correcting any bad perspective from their child. If you already usually hear 'every good has it's own bad', now you can remember new thing, 'every problems have it's own solutions'.

#8 Cinderella

   
A young, beautiful girl suffers at the hands of a cruel stepmother and two (or three) nasty stepsisters. They force her to toil day and night and eventually give her a derogatory nickname that reflects her permanent ashy, sooty or cinder like Cinderella. Her only friends are the mice living in the old mansion, which is sad but also endearing and shows Cinderella's kindness to all creatures large and small.

   Cinderella is a very much-celebrated children’s movie. It is a timeless classic that many children have seen many times. I will admit; I love Cinderella. It is a cutesy movie that makes every little girl want to become a princess. Looking back on the film now, we have to consider that there might be some subliminal messaging going on in this Disney classic.

   First, I will start with the obvious, the cliché message in Cinderella. This is a classic romantic Disney princess film that teaches young girls that their dreams will come true, no matter what walk of life you come from. It teaches young girls that good conquers evil, purity prevails, and that everyone deserves a “prince charming”. This message is winning young girls over with its emotional appeal. Who would not watch this movie and think about finding their own prince charming. These stories are the reason the term “prince charming” has been coined! This message uses the pathos appeal to make its argument. When viewers watch the film, they are whisked away to their dream about happiness and the perfect love life. This film makes girls feel warm and fuzzy. Because this is a children’s movie, it tends to play up the cliché message more than the average film because children grasp messages better when they are presented in an overt manner rather than in any other way. Also, Cinderella is a classic Disney princess, which makes an ethos argument in the way that the little girls watching her want to be like her, which makes her credible in their eyes.

   As you can see, the Grimm Brother’s original version of Cinderella greatly differs from Disney’s portrayal. Disney definitely cut out the graphic scenes in order to make it child appropriate. In addition to this, they changed up the role of family in the story and the role of other main characters. What is their reason for doing this? Perhaps Disney simply wanted to create their own version of the tale. Or, perhaps they were trying to fit in the messages they want kids to take from the tale. Either way, the changes Disney made are not seen as changes, but rather, accepted as the true story. Cinderella went from a story of reward/punishment based on behavior to a story of needing a man in order for your life to be complete. Nobody questions these changes because a lot of people believe these tales originated with Disney. The differences found in the movie add in a lot more gender stereotyping and has changed the values that children take from the story.

#4 Snow White

Snow White is so detached from her own story that she barely even interacts with the two characters who drive it. She never says a word to her true love, the prince, who she sees once and instantly falls in love with. While he declares his passion for her immediately, she, in all her sweet innocence, instantly runs and hides from him. Quite right, perhaps, since he first appears as a creepy eavesdropper with a feather in his cap, who appears beside her and joins her in a duet without invitation, and next appears to kiss the lips of a beautiful corpse. But the “true love” hardly rings true.

 Snow White the the Seven Dwarfs is actually about drugs. According to some theorists, the story of Snow White is a symbolic representation of the seven stages of cocaine addiction. ‘Snow White’ is a nickname for the narcotic, plus names such as Dopey, Sneezy and Grumpy line up with some of the symptoms.

 

 

A beautiful girl, Snow White, takes refuge in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen. The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as "the fairest in the land," and Snow White's beauty surpasses her own. The dwarfs grow to love their unexpected visitor, who cleans their house and cooks their meals. But one day while the dwarfs are at their diamond mine, the Queen arrives at the cottage disguised as an old peddler woman and persuades Snow White to bite into a poisoned apple. The dwarfs, warned by the forest animals, rush home to chase the witch away, but they are too late to save Snow White from the poisoned apple. They place her in a glass coffin in the woods and mourn for her. The Prince, who has fallen in love with Snow White, happens by and awakens her from the wicked Queen's deathlike spell with "love's first kiss."
